An ongoing agreement

Consent is not permission granted once and forever. It must be freely given, specific, enthusiastic and reversible. Someone may want to try a posture and then change their mind. That change requires neither justification nor negotiation.

Questions that are easy to answer

Use short questions: “does this angle work?”, “shall we slow down?”, “would you rather change?”. Non-verbal responses matter, but they do not replace a clear check when there is doubt.

  • Agree on a stop signal
  • Name sensitive areas
  • Check the pace
  • Accept no without pressure

After a change

When a position no longer works, slow down and settle again. A calm conversation afterwards helps identify what felt good and what could be adjusted next time.
